Podcast Episode 28: Joy at the Piano (“Come, Ye Children of the Lord”)
The other day, I was at my mother’s home in Spanish Fork, Utah. I enjoy playing her piano, and she enjoys hearing me play it. For some reason, I started playing my own arrangement of Come, Ye Children of the Lord. Prior to that day, I had never played that song on the piano.
The Song–Come, Ye Children of the Lord
For some reason, I sat down and started to play a a couple of chords. Those chords turned into an attempt to play this hymn. I enjoyed what I started and continued to work at it.
General Conference Intercedes
On Saturday of the next week, I watched general conference. The first hymn they showed, performed by the Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square, was Come, Ye Children of the Lord. I took it as a sign or tender mercy that the Lord liked my idea of learning to play that hymn. Accordingly, later that day, I sat down and finished my arrangement of that hymn.
The Podcast
In 27 episodes of my podcast, the most listened-to episode is the one without any words! It was the episode where I played my own arrangement of All Creatures of Our God and King. As a second musical podcast, enjoy this one!
