JOY WITH EDUARDO
Because of my work I meet lots of new people. Today I had the pleasure of meeting Eduardo, a Hispanic gentleman who wanted some stuff hauled away.
Why Eduardo is Special
You know you’re around a good guy when he offers to help you load the truck. That’s what Eduardo did. I worked solo today so his offer was appreciated.
After making a few trips back and forth to load some of his stuff, I asked him where he is from originally. “Peru,” he said proudly. I mentioned our church has a temple in Lima and is building another one.
He asked me where I was from originally. “Utah,” I answered. “So, are you Mormon?” he asked. I told him I was.
Then he asked if I was from Salt Lake City. I told him no; about an hour south of there. The conversation was so smooth and natural it was like we were old friends.
The Prompting
After talking with him for a few minutes I just felt comfortable giving him some information before I left. That information included four cards: 1) My business card, 2) A GetUpside gas card, which I give to everyone, 3) An articles of faith card, and 4) My public affairs card which gives the location and time of our church services. He appreciated all four.
The Spirit prompts you to do something in this case with some calm, logical thoughts that felt natural. Eduardo was my friend. Giving him some information that can help him both temporally and spiritually was easy to do. He appreciated the information and genuinely thanked me for it.
Remember the Cards!
It’s interesting that last night after our stake choir practice I stopped by the visitors’ center and picked up some articles of faith cards. Then, in less than 24 hours, I gave one of them away. When the Lord knows you have the cards, He can guide you on where to give them away. It’s natural and easy. And remember, because people are busy, you simply don’t have a lot of time to have conversations these days. The cards are working for me long after I’ve left.
