Joy at the I-66 Transfer Station

The I-66 transfer station is the landfill complex in Fairfax County Virginia.  I go there often because of my work in the junk removal business. One of their employees is named Eddie. I often see him when I’m unloading the truck.

Our Conversations at the I-66 Transfer Station

Eddie knows that I frequently travel. With a girlfriend in the Colorado area, I often go to Denver on quick trips. Eddie is from Denver originally so we enjoy discussing that area.

Frontier Airlines plane

You’ll find cheap fares here!

I often remark about the inexpensive airfares that I get when I travel.  So I wasn’t surprised the other day when Eddie asked me if I had any cheap trips coming up.

…and here!

The Houston Temple

The Houston Temple

The reason for my upcoming trip

I told him I had a trip coming up to Houston Texas to visit one of our temples. The round-trip airfare was only about $100.  As he has done in the past, Eddie asked me what websites I used to find these fares. I told him flyfrontier.com and Spirit.com.  He started to repeat them so I just naturally offered to write them down for him. He thought that was a great idea.

Something to Write On at the I-66 Transfer Station

Articles of faith cards

The new series of Articles of Faith cards. (The Salt Lake Temple card is on the left.)

It’s a great idea to keep some articles of faith cards in your vehicle. In this case I just needed something to write on and the only thing I had were articles of faith cards. Because we just been talking about the temple I grabbed one that had the Salt Lake Temple on the front of it. That seemed appropriate.

So I took out a card and wrote down the two websites on it.   Then I handed it to Eddie.   He gladly received it because it was the websites he was after.   I explained what the card was and that the temple on the front of it was like the one I was going to visit in Houston, only much bigger.  I also told him with that card in hand he was an expert on the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

The Conclusion

Sometimes you just need a piece of paper or a card to write some information on. And sometimes the only card or paper at your disposal is in articles of faith card. At least that’s the case with me.  I never once had the thought in the past that this card could be used to just jot some information onto.  But it can be.

Keep the cards close by and the Lord will prompt you on how to use them, even if it’s just to pass along some information about how to find a cheap flight.
